Our Vision

Every child is brilliant, and neuroscience reveals that they are learning every second of every day. Thus, we do not actually need to teach kids how to learn, but instead we can create safe environments where what they are learning serves their optimal growth and development. We envision a world where scientific researchers, engineers, educators, students and communities co-design and co-create learning experiences grounded in the assets of young people, especially Black, Latino and Indigenous students and students of all races experiencing poverty.  

Our Mission

With major recent federal and philanthropic investments, education R&D is poised to create a step-function improvement in how the US teaches and learns, but will stall without critical infrastructure and expertise. A major impediment to establishing this strong foundation is that the expertise needed is both sparse and difficult to put into practice because solutions require highly intersectional expertise.

SETA-ED supports R&D teams dedicated to transforming education via advanced R&D to design and execute their work safely, affordably, equitably and with minimal start-up friction, without over-burdening existing capacity. To enable researchers and developers to focus on their R&D, we provide multi-disciplinary services, products and expertise needed to protect students, lower stakeholder risk, and move incremental R&D to transformative R&D.
